The New LawnBott LB1200 Review
The
First Robotic Lawn Mower that does NOT require
a perimeter wire. It can actually sense live grass
and non-grass areas to stay on your lawn!
Please note: This will be updated as
we learn more!
Operation is as simple as 1-2-3!
1. Charge
The Battery
2. Place it on your Lawn
3. Turn it On
Where is can be used:
Smaller Lawns (up to 5500
sqft)
Courtyards
Fenced/Bordered Pool Areas
Terraced Lawns
Rooftop Lawns
In combination with other mowers.
Most Importantly: Is your Lawn Compatible?
The mower requires that all areas
be bordered. This can be a fence, sidewalk, dirt, mulch,
gravel (anything but a living plant). We viewed operating
prototypes and curbs can provide a challenge due to
the sensor reaction time and the fact that grass sometimes
covers part of the curb. A lawn that has a lot of bare
areas would not work very well since the mower would
be constantly reversing and would not be able to cross
the area.
The LB1200 is rated at 27 degrees.
Be sure that your lawn does not exceed this. Click here
to learn how to easily measure grades. Once we have
our hands on a production model, we will see if this
can be safely exceeded.
It must be charged indoors. This
can be a shed, garage, basement or anywhere else out
of the weather. The unit only weighs 18lbs so moving
it is not difficult.
This lawn mower is meant for smaller
lawns of 5500 sq. ft. and below. The mower should cover
about 2000 square feet per run so you can run it on
different days in different areas if you like.
If the above sounds like your lawn
or it could be altered to be, we will offer a 30 Day
money back guarantee. If you have any doubt, please
contact us before ordering.
How it Works:
Six patented sensors "look"
for living grass as the mower travels in either
direction. When at least two of them sense that
no grass (or live plant material) is present,
the LB1200 mower will reverse. The mower will
also stay out freshly seeded areas of the lawn
until growth is established. Curbs are about the
only concern for the LB1200. The sensor delay
may allow the mower to travel far enough that
the wheels may drop off of the curb. If you have
an area bordered by a curb, a barrier may be required.
Six to eight inches of non grass area is recommended
to ensure that it does not get into your flowers.
A VERY dry lawn may have to be wet down for this
Lawnbott mower to run.
Operation:
Charging could not be easier. Two
color coded connectors (Red-Black) snap on to the center
of a left and right wheels. Once charged the unit is
carried to the area requiring maintenance. Pressing
the start button is all that is required until it has
completed its task or requires charging.
Aside from the "grass"
sensors, the LB1200 also monitors rolling resistance.
If it bumps something, it then reverses. One very interesting
and dual use feature are the safety lift handles. Grab
either one and the blades stop. Grab both simultaneously
and the blade also stops but will restart once you place
the mower back on grass. This allows you to quickly
move it across a walk or to another nearby area.
The LB1200 has been running in Europe
for two years and the customer response has been incredible.
We expect the same for the US.
